Sydney Sorenson was born and raised in the state of Utah.  Her passion for dance began with her first steps and when she was introduced to music.  Coincidentally her inspiration to move started at the Salt Lake Arts Festival, where she finds home today. At the age of four, her mother decided to put her in a formal dance class to control that busy little body.  Therefore, she began training at a competition school called the Dance Club.  She studied ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap and tumbling.  Their studio participated in numerous competitions and workshops throughout the United States.  Following at the age of eight, Sydney decided to incorporate Ballet in order to help supplement her mainly Jazz based dance training.  She studied under the direction of Jacqueline P. Colledge. When she was ten she was invited to join Utah Regional Ballet’s pre professional program.  Classical Ballet became her main focus as she trained very intensely for the next five years.  During this period of time she was privileged to take classes and intensives with Boston Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, The School of American Ballet, Ballet West and Ririe Woodbury. Ms. Sorenson was awarded a full ride scholarship to dance at the Craft of Choreography intensive under the direction of Alan Hineline.  In 2005 she was also awarded a scholarship to Lines Ballet summer intensive, at the age of fourteen.  After Studying in San Francisco that summer, she was offered a contract to dance with Lines Ballet 2.  Instead she returned and continued to dance and teach throughout her high school years.  At the age of eighteen she was hired to dance professionally with Vibe productions under the direction of Kellie Messerly, Rick Robinson and Alan Salazar.  She was also cast as a featured dancer for Disney’s production of High School Musical 3 under the direction of Kenny Ortega.

Currently Sydney is in her Senior year at the University of Utah, in the Department of Modern Dance.  In the past year's she worked as a professional Nu Skin Jazz Dancer for the Utah Jazz NBA team, to support her way through college.  Now she is focusing her time and energy into finishing school in April of 2013. She is involved in the Performing Dance Company, teaching in the schools and beginning her Senior Concert piece. Outside of the University she has worked in jobs such as the Nuskin Convention (featured performer) and a web series called Dr. Fubalous (hip hop dancer). Currently you can watch her compete and dance on Ovation's new original series of 'A Chance to Dance,' created and produced by Nigel Lythgoe and the BalletBoyz. Upcoming she will also be featured in ABC Family's movie of the week entitled the 'Mistle-tones.' This is a musical, a apart of the 25 days of Christmas where she danced, sang and acted in the film. Sydney wishes to pursue a professional career following graduation and hopefully uprooting her location. She simply cannot imagine a life without dance.  It has truly made her who she is today.  She plans to continue to grow and dance for many years to come, as well as share her passion with the world around her.
